Did you know OKI’s 14-meter Long FPC (Flexible Printed Circuit) was used for “IKAROS” the world’s first solar-powered probe by JAXA back in 2010? IKAROS had a square solar sail with each side measuring 14 meters. During launch, the sail wired by the FPC were folded in an X-shape and twisted onto a small tube airframe. Once it reached outer space, the sail unfolded, allowing IKAROS to navigate space with the small solar-powered sail using only photons.
